Beschreibung

Polaroids of Winter is an original composition for accordion orchestra by Björn Kasan.

The piece attempts to capture impressions of the winter season in four short movements that merge into one another. The musical winter impressions start on a cloudy, gloomy morning with a slightly sleepy and sentimental look through the window. This sentimentality is quickly turned into joy over fresh snow in the 2nd movement. In the subsequent waltz, this joy over the snow is then contrasted with the accompanying work of shovelling snow. In the last movement, the mood of the 1st movement is echoed, ending the piece in a melancholy loneliness.

The piece can also be played in quintet formation (Acc. I-IV, Bass); Electronium, Piano and Drums are supplementary additional voices. The degree of difficulty can be classified as medium. Some more soloistic passages may be more demanding.

Movements 1 & 2 can stand alone as a combination; the 3rd movement as well.
