Beschreibung

Along with Auld Lang Syne, Parting Glass is one of the best-known Scottish farewell songs and is also much sung and loved in the rest of the UK as well as Ireland. It is traditionally the last song of a gathering - a musical parting glass. It was first documented in its full form in the late 18th century. However, some sources date it as far back as 1600 and earlier.

The arrangement immerses the orchestra and audience in a story of longing and pain that, after a rich alternation of dark and light moments, ultimately concludes with a hopeful toast: "and joy be to you all!“
