Beschreibung
This Irish song has its origins in a poem by Seán "Clárach" Mac Domhnaill (1691- 1754). Its title "Mo Ghile Mear" translates as "My brave hero". In this sense, the piece in its original form describes the mourning for the failed Jacobite uprising of 1746, which forced Bonnie Prince Charlie into exile.
The arrangement is characterised by lyrical and quasi-soloistic verses that merge into a full tutti sound in the chorus.
